Moulds out and bulkheads in

The past couple of weeks have been great fun. First I removed all the moulds and sanded the interior and exterior of the the boat, it was a very rewarding process to sand off the dags of glue and see the sweet lines and form of the hull.

After this was completed I then began to work out the shape and location of all the bulkheads. I had a rough idea from some general arrangement drawings I did, however the positions of a few bulkheads needed a bit of adjusting.

I didn't feel as productive as usual, as I spent a lot of time thinking. There are so many factors that need to be thought through, such as: positions of bulkheads, the height of the cockpit, the different deck cambers at different parts of the boat, galley size, etc.

For example, I couldn't move forward until I knew how thick my bunk mattress was going to be. So I spent a bit of time ringing around, turns out its 4 inches. From this I could then determine the height of the plywood bunk sole, and from this the fore and aft location of the bunk.

I also had to do a lot of thinking about water storage and placement. I'm still not certain on how I will store the water, but I've got the location down pat. This did mean I had to move the cockpit/footwell aft 700mm, which is just another one of the many compromises that make up every boat.

I've also mocked up the cabin, and am working out the best method to cold mould it.
